THE REAL MAN BEHIND FREEDOM'S CHARACTER - CHARLIE

Every unforgettable story begins with unforgettable people.

While Charlie is a fictional character in FREEDOM, he was inspired by a very real man whose quiet strength, unwavering character, and love for family left an indelible mark on my life.

During my years on a ranch in Freedom, Oklahoma, I had the privilege of knowing a man who embodied the values that built the American West. He wasn't interested in recognition or applause. He believed in keeping your word, working hard, helping your neighbors, and doing the right thing—even when no one was watching.

He taught more through his actions than his words.

As I wrote FREEDOM, those memories naturally found their way onto the page. Charlie became the moral compass of the ranch—a father, grandfather, mentor, and friend whose wisdom steadies those around him through life's greatest joys and deepest hardships.

His character is a tribute to the ranchers, cowboys, fathers, and grandfathers whose legacy isn't measured by wealth or fame, but by the lives they touched and the values they passed on.

Charlie reminds us that true strength is found in humility, kindness, perseverance, and faith.

Some people inspire a story. Others become part of its legacy. Charlie was born from both.
