Anita Waggoner - Bio

Executive Producer • Screenwriter • Award-Winning Author

Anita Waggoner is an award-winning author, screenwriter, and Executive Producer whose work is rooted in the authentic traditions of the American West. A former ranch owner and rodeo stock contractor, she draws upon years of firsthand experience with cowboys, bucking bulls, ranching, and rural communities to create stories that resonate with honesty, grit, and heart.

She is the creator of Freedom, an award-winning modern Western entertainment property inspired by true events. What began as a novel has grown into an award-winning feature screenplay, a completed first season of an eight-episode television series, and a companion documentary currently in development. Her work has earned recognition from numerous screenplay competitions and film festivals, reflecting both the strength of the storytelling and the growing interest in authentic Western narratives.

Beyond writing, Anita is committed to preserving the values, traditions, and spirit of the American West through compelling stories that celebrate resilience, family, faith, redemption, and the enduring cowboy way of life. Her unique background gives Freedom a level of authenticity that few contemporary Western projects can claim.

Today, Anita continues to expand the Freedom universe through publishing, film, television, and lifestyle branding while actively pursuing production partners, investors, and strategic collaborations to bring the project to audiences worldwide.

She lives in northern Idaho, where she continues to write, develop new projects, and champion the stories of the modern American West.

What makes Freedom different isn't just the story. It's the life behind it.

I didn't learn the West by researching it. I lived it.

I owned and operated a working ranch in Freedom, Oklahoma. I raised rodeo bulls, worked as a professional bull riding stock contractor, produced rodeos and bull riding events, built businesses that welcomed guests from around the world, and spent years alongside the cowboys, ranching families, and communities that define this way of life.

Those experiences can't be manufactured. They shaped the characters, the dialogue, the relationships, and the challenges you'll see in Freedom. Every dusty road, every bucking chute, every branding pen, every small-town café, and every hard-earned lesson comes from a place of authenticity.

As we continue moving Freedom toward television, I'm reminded that the greatest asset I bring isn't simply a screenplay.

It's a lifetime of living the story.

I believe today's audiences are looking for stories that feel genuine, characters they recognize, and a world they can believe in. That's exactly what Freedom was created to deliver.
