MY HOMETOWN RODEO

I attended my very first rodeo in Omak, Washington, just a few days after I was born. My grandfather, Leo Moomaw, was one of the founders of the Omak Stampede and served as an early stock contractor, helping build the Western tradition that continues to bring generations of families together today. Rodeo has been in my blood from the very beginning.

August 13 through 16, 2026, Omak will proudly celebrate the 92nd Annual Omak Stampede!

From the first ride-in to the final running of the World Famous Suicide Race, the weekend will be filled with Western entertainment, including the family-friendly carnival, Wrangler Kids Night, Indian Encampment and Pow Wow, Western and Native Art Show, rodeo dances, Vendor Row, the Omak Stampede Company Store, and support for the Tough Enough to Wear Pink campaign.

If you have never experienced the Omak Stampede, I hope you will make plans to attend. You will witness a remarkable celebration of rodeo, Native culture, community, courage, and Western heritage in my hometown of Omak, Washington.

For me, it will always be where a lifelong love of rodeo began, just a few days after I was born.
